Outreach Opera: Last Night of the Proms

Saturday 12th August 2023

Performance begins 2pm (Gates open 1pm)

Outreach Opera return to Hoghton Tower for their Last Night of the Proms open-air concert, in the beautiful setting of the Wilderness Garden. Gates open at 1pm with Outreach Opera taking to the stage at 2pm. They will be joined by special guests, the amazing Bolton Hoover Band.

Pack your picnics and bring your friends for this family matinee event on the lawn. Outreach Opera and the Bolton Hoover Band will take you on a musical journey from opera through to songs from the musicals, finishing with much loved traditional British anthems, including Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem, for those who enjoy a flag waving, sing a long.

This is a fundraising event in aid of Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust (Registered Charity No. 508357). Thank you for your support in preserving and restoring this beautiful building and the grounds in which it stands.

Important Information

The event will take place outdoors on the lawn in the Wilderness Garden. Please dress for the weather and bring your own picnic blankets and low backed chairs. Please be considerate of your fellow audience members and avoid bringing umbrellas as these block the view of others. In case of rain, ponchos and raincoats are great and if the sun is shining, don't forget your hat and suncream!

You are welcome to bring your own picnic, however, our tearoom will be open, serving hot and cold drinks along with light refreshments before the performance begins. Drinks and snacks including ice cream will be on sale during the interval.

There will be plenty of free parking available for event ticket holders.

Our beautiful historic hill top site does mean that access to the gardens is uphill on an uneven surface. If you have any access requirements, please email mail@hoghtontower.co.uk or call us on 01254 852986 to discuss this before purchasing a ticket.

Why not make a day of it?

The house will be open for visits from 11am (separate charges apply). This is an opportunity to explore the history of this fascinating site at your own pace. Our friendly volunteers will happily chat to you and share some of their extensive knowledge with you. You can pre-book your tickets here.

The Tea Room will also be open for drinks and light refreshments before the performance. If you would like to book an afternoon tea to enjoy prior to the performance, this must be pre-booked (subject to availability). Last entry to the Tea Room is at 3:30pm.

Please refer to our General Terms and Conditions here.
