Christmas Through the Ages Tour

Step back in time and get into the festive spirit as you take an atmospheric guided tour around the seasonally decorated house. 

Listen to tales from Christmas in different ages. hear about many of our Christmas traditions and life at this festive time in years gone by.

The tour will last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. It is aimed at adults but should be suitable for interested children aged 10 and above.

 

This year we have Christmas Through the Ages Tours taking place on select dates and evenings throughout November and December.

The tour will last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. It is aimed at adults but should be suitable for interested children aged 10 and above.

Useful information:

  • Please dress warmly and be aware that due to the age of the house, there are a number of different and sometimes uneven floor surfaces.
  • The tour will include stairs as some rooms are upstairs. For further details about access, please see the Facilities & Access page on our website.
  • The tour includes a limited number of rooms and not all the rooms on a standard house tour.
  • Our Tearoom will be open 11am - 4pm.
  • Festive Afternoon Teas available to pre-book.
  • The Gardens will be closed in December.

Please note: On Saturday 29th of November & Sunday 30th of November, we will also be holding our annual Christmas Gift Market so there will be a £2 per car / pedestrian group of 6 site admission fee payable (cash only) on the gate in addition to the cost of your ticket.

Join us for an unforgettable evening this Festive Season.

Enjoy a lovely 2-course meal of Traditional Lancashire Hot Pot & an Apple and Winter Berry Crumble in our cosy Tearoom before stepping back in time to discover the different eras in which the House has celebrated Christmas. 

Our costumed guides will take you an an atmospheric journey throughout the seasonally decorated house with plenty of festive lights to marvel at.

The tour will last approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

Doors will open 30 minutes before the start time on your ticket.

2-course Meal

Included in your ticket is a two-course meal of either Traditional Lancashire Hot Pot or a Vegetarian Butter Pie and then for dessert, Apple & Winter Berry Crumble. Please enter any dietary requirements during the checkout process. Please be aware that although we do take precautions to minimise the risk of any cross contamination, due to the size of our facilities we are unable to guarantee that this will not occur. 

The tour is aimed at adults and is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16. At least one member of the party should be over the age of 21.

The Tower will be extremely cold this time of year. Please ensure that you are wearing sufficiently warm, outdoor clothing and comfortable shoes, suitable for walking on uneven, historic surfaces. The tour involves several flights of stairs including those into the underground passages and some without handrails.

The doors will open 30 minutes before the start time on your ticket. We expect the last tour to be finished by 9.15pm, after which time the site will be closed.
