Ghost Tours - Dates for January & February now available

Ghost Tours at Hoghton Tower

Ascend the long drive of reputedly the third most haunted house in Britain where we will be waiting for you.

Silent torchbearers take you on the ghost tour through the darkened halls of the Tower, where you may encounter spectres from the past and you will be told about the ghostly happenings from across the centuries.

Venture, if you dare, through the underground passages where footsteps from another time may echo alongside your own. Do you see the black dog who haunts the Well House?

Greet Angry Peter, stare into the painting where mysterious faces may reveal themselves, before finally grasping the opportunity to reflect on what you have seen and heard.

Included in the package is a two-course meal of either Meat & Potato Pie, or a Vegetarian Butter Pie and then for dessert, Sticky Toffee Pudding in Butterscotch Sauce. Please enter any dietary requirements during the checkout process. Please be aware that although we do take precautions to minimise the risk of any cross contamination, due to the size of our facilities we are unable to guarantee that this will not occur.

The tour is aimed at adults and is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16. At least one member of the party should be over the age of 21.

The Tower will be extremely cold this time of year and this adds to the ghostly experience of the tour. Please ensure that you are wearing sufficiently warm, outdoor clothing and comfortable shoes, suitable for walking on uneven, historic surfaces. The tour involves several flights of stairs including those into the underground passages and some without handrails.

Doors open from 5:30pm and food is served at 6pm followed by the Ghost Tour. We expect the tour to be finished by 9pm, after which time the site will be closed.

This is a fundraising event in aid of Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust (Registered Charity No. 508357). Thank you for your support in preserving and restoring this beautiful building and the grounds in which it stands.

Please be aware that no photography / detection or recording equipment of any kind is permitted during the tour.
