Garden Admission only
Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our gardens for a break from the world!
Follow the winding escarpment lined with giant beech trees, ancient moss-covered walls and spring snowdrops and daffodils along the north side of the Tower. Look right to find the stonemason’s name concealed in the randomly-sized stones. As you pass through the ancient doorway, notice the oak trees planted by royalty on either side of you. Discover now three separate, very different walled gardens as narrow openings lead from one to another, almost as if you are walking into different open-air rooms.
Gardening Opening
April 11am - 3pm (last entry 2:30pm)
May - September 11am - 4pm (last entry 3:30pm)
Access
Access to the Gardens is via a steep, uneven pathway. Each of the gardens is flat and has a designated path. Garden paths consist of sand, shale or gravel depending on the area. There are, however, steps between some of the gardens. For more information, please refer to the Facilities and Access page on our website.

Help support Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust
Gift Aid Admission includes a 10 per cent or more voluntary donation. Gift Aid Admissions let us reclaim tax on the whole amount paid - an extra 25 per cent - potentially a very significant boost to our places' funds.
An extra £1 paid under the scheme can be worth over £3 to the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust as shown below:
Example Gift Aid price:
Example amount paid by visitor - £11.00
Tax refund from Government* - £2.75
Total received by the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust - £13.75
* Gift Aid donations must be supported by a valid Gift Aid declaration, and a Gift Aid declaration can only cover donations made by an individual for him/herself and members of his/her family.
You must be a UK taxpayer to participate in the Gift Aid scheme. You need to pay enough Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in each tax year to cover the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations to charity otherwise you are responsible to pay any difference.
