Classic Car Show Special: Self-Guided House Visit
Visit the house and discover this historic building at your leisure. Explore the fascinating past of this iconic building: almost 1000 years of history witnessed on this one, hilltop site. From William the Conqueror through to modern times the Tower has witnessed the lives of the de Hoghton family and welcomed many famous visitors. You have the option to download the ‘Live Beacon’ app on to your own mobile device to read as you explore. Alternatively, browse the notes that you will find in each room or chat with our friendly volunteers around the house who will be happy to share some of the stories from history with you.
Your visit includes the State Bedroom, the Ballroom and the beautiful Banqueting Hall as well as other stunning rooms in this Tudor-Elizabethan Manor House. You will also have the opportunity to view our fantastic projection all about the visit of King James I in 1617 which was funded through the Culture Recovery Fund. We suggest that you allow up to an hour for your house visit. Details about how to download the app will be given in your confirmation email.
Please be aware that this ticket does not include access to the Underground Passages or the Well House.
The house will be open 11am – 4pm with last entry to the house at 3pm. You can enter the house at any point during your timed entry slot.
By booking a ticket for one of our tours you are helping to raise funds for the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust (Registered Charity: 508357).
Please be aware that all visitors must hold a valid site admission ticket for the Classic Car Show event on the day of your tour. These are cheaper if booked in advance.
