A Garden Through Time - Special Tour

Join us for a brand new tour to discover secrets of the fascinating history and development of the garden at Hoghton Tower. In addition to hearing about the three distinct gardens, the tour will include a unique chance to visit a section of the Long Walk which is otherwise not accessible to the public.

This guided tour will last approximately 1 hour. Please dress appropriately for the weather as the tour will go ahead unless it is unsafe to do so. The terrain is mixed, so it is essential that you wear stout, waterproof footwear. Please remain with your guide at all times.

This tour is recommended for over 16s only.

Access

Access to the gardens is via an uneven inclined driveway. Paths within the publicly accessible gardens are level and gravelled, however, the path on the Long Walk (private unless on this guided tour) is not surfaced and may be muddy. There is one flight of eight stone steps in one of the gardens. If you have any questions about accessibility on this tour, please email mail@hoghtontower.co.uk.

Adding an Afternoon Tea

If you would like to book an afternoon tea on the day of your tour, we suggest booking your tour at 11:30am followed by afternoon tea at 12:30pm or 1:30pm.

All Afternoon Teas must be pre-booked.

By booking one of our tours you are helping the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust (Registered Charity: 508357) preserve this beautiful historic building and its grounds so that generations to come can continue to enjoy this unique piece of Lancashire's heritage. Thank you.
