Cream Tea and Talk - Heraldry of Lancashire Families

2pm Thursday 10th September 2026

Please join us for a delicious Cream Tea and a fantastic talk by one of our volunteers John

Hoghton Tower guide, John Ball, an Associate Fellow of the International Association of Amateur Heralds, presents an illustrated talk on the Heraldry of Lancashire Families.

The talk explains the elements that make up a Coat of Arms and includes the arms of many Lancashire families. Among them can be seen those of de Hoghton, Shuttleworth, Assheton, Bold, and Hesketh some of which date back to the 13th century.

Your Cream Tea will consist of a large scone and hot drink served at the end of the talk. There will be self serve tea and coffee available at the beginning of the talk. We are happy to cater for dietary requirements providing that they are included at the time of booking. However, please be aware that, our kitchen does handle products containing allergens and that, although we take care during food preparation, we cannot guarantee that there will be no cross contamination.

All visits help the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust (Registered Charity: 508357) to maintain, preserve, restore and maintain this beautiful building and grounds in which it stands and to continue to share its fascinating history with generations to come. Thank you for your support.
