A Christmas Carol
Thursday 17th and Saturday 19th of December 2026
Join us this Christmas and walk in the footsteps of Charles Dickens for a very special promenade performance of A Christmas Carol! Moving throughout the house and guided by our very own Charles Dickens, we will bring to life this classic Christmas tale in each of the rooms, especially decorated for the season! Watch as Scrooge meets the spirits and is transported through time to Fezziwig's ballroom, Bob Cratchit's parlour, London Markets and down into the dark narrow alleyways of London's backstreets in our very own underground passages.
Follow Scrooge all the way to our magnificent Banqueting Hall, where you will enjoy a warming cup of mulled wine and soak in the Christmas spirit under the boughs of our grand Christmas tree.
This is a unique opportunity to see this beloved tale come to life within the walls of Hoghton Tower this Christmas!
Start time: 7pm
Run time will be approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
Important Information
Age Restrictions
The tour is not suitable for anyone under 10. All participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Comfort & Access
The Tower will be extremely cold this time of year. Please ensure that you are wearing sufficiently warm, outdoor clothing and comfortable shoes, suitable for walking on uneven, historic surfaces.
The starting point for the tour is accessed either via two flights of stone steps without a handrail or, alternatively, a single flight of narrower stones steps with a handrail. The tour itself involves a number of flights of stairs and different historic, sometimes, uneven and damp floor surfaces.
