Tea and Talk - Sparking Clogs and Shiny Steps
Thursday the 7th of May at 2pm in the Billiard Room . Join local historian Debbie Pope for a talk - Sparking Clogs and Shiny Steps :Pride and Poverty in a Lancashire Mill Village. Through a presentation of photos and artefacts, local historian, Debbie Pope, considers three items that are commonplace essentials in our local culture (clogs, donkey stones and tripe!) Along with her own memories and welcoming the contributions of her audience, Debbie explores the social history of these once popular and universal items, now slipping in the distant past.
Option to book a Cream Tea or Soup and Sandwich either before or after the talk.
We are happy to cater for dietary requirements proving that they are included at the time of booking. However, please be aware that, our kitchen does handle products containing allergens and that, although we take care during food preparation, we cannot guarantee that there will be no cross contamination.
All visits help the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust (Registered Charity: 508357) to maintain, preserve, restore and maintain this beautiful building and grounds in which it stands and to continue to share its fascinating history with generations to come. Thank you for your support.
